MY STORY

This has to have been, by far, the hardest part in building this website. My Story? I need to write about myself here?!

About me? I’ll keep it very simple. I was born and raised in Brampton, Canada, right on the outskirts of Toronto (Go Drake!). My Dad was from Guyana, and my Mom is from Trinidad. I’m of Caribbean decent, and let me tell you…we know how to party! I have two sisters, both live in Toronto. I am a huge family man, even though I live across the globe from my family. I make it a point to reach out as much as I can. This isn’t just my immediate family, but I keep my cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews all close to me because they are my support network. I wouldn’t be where I am without the support of my family.

I consider myself an “all around fun guy.” Up for anything, whenever, wherever, however, and that’s something that I hope will never change! I love to travel the world, but the best place in the world, in my opinion, is Trinidad and Tobago. My family in Trinidad is a huge part of why I’m doing what I’m doing. Here’s a picture of me living the ‘Trini’ life, hiding the Carib out of the picture of course.

A few years ago, my Dad passed away. This was one of the toughest times of my life, but the entire experience shaped me into who I am today. We dig a lot deeper into my Dad and his death in multiple podcast episodes, but I wanted to stress the fact that sometimes, these experiences are a great kick in the ass to take you to the next step. I know I used the passing of my Dad to grow in life, learn new things and live a life that he would be proud of. If you have experienced death in your family, please reach out. I would love to know your story.

I went to Sheridan College and Ryerson University, both schools which I owe a lot to. These institutions were the stepping stones to a successful career in tech sales. For those of you who don’t know me too well, I’m an absolute tech geek. Having worked for a few tech companies, and currently working for one now, I am always keeping up to date with technology because I’m constantly exposed to it. It’s like Neo from The Matrix…I love that feeling!

In May of 2016, I decided to pack a suitcase and a backpack and move to Sydney, Australia, which has, by far, been the best experience of my life. Moving across the globe has taught me so many things. It honestly has opened up my eyes to different experiences, forced me to jump out of my comfort zone every single day of my life, and has challenged me in so many different ways. I encourage each of you to try living in a different country you were born in if you have a chance. You will be so surprised at the things you learn, the people you meet, and the relationships that you develop.

Throughout the podcasts, you’ll hear me refer to my bigger days. Here is what I used to look like:

From 284lbs (129kg) to 155lbs (70kg) in 11 months. How? There isn’t really a huge secret. It was hard work, dedication, and the most important one, consistency. I am LIVING PROOF that if you work hard, eat right, train insane and stay consistent, you WILL, and I repeat, WILL get fit. There’s no secret behind this, it’s all science. If you need help, that’s what I’m here for. I’m here to pump you up and tell you that you can do it.

I think I’m going to end with the ‘why.’ Why have I started this podcast? Why am I writing a book? Why am I trying to uncover people’s stories and why do I think it’s going to help others?

The reason I’ve started this podcast is because I genuinely enjoy listening to people’s stories. I have an interest in getting to know people through their experiences in life, and I wanted to create a platform for them to share their story with the world if they were up for it. I’m extremely passionate about this project, and I can’t wait to see where it will be later on in my career. This podcast show is meant to entertain, and at the same time, trigger a hidden part of the listeners’ brain. My hopes are for listeners (and myself) to learn from the experiences of the guests on the show. Our topics range from successes, ups and downs, family, stress, fears, fitness, cooking and so much more. We always manage to throw a few laughs in there, so not to worry. You will be engaged. Make sure to visit my PODCAST page.

Writing ‘The Regular Effect’ was a shock to me. I wasn’t a writer, I had no idea how to write a book, and I had no idea who my audience/readers would be. I decided to start writing my experiences down on paper, and that’s exactly how the book came to be. This will be available HERE in the next few months.

Please don’t forget, I’m here to help, so feel free to reach out to me on FACEBOOK, LINKEDIN, TWITTER or INSTAGRAM. I would love to hear from you, and I will do my very best to get back to each and every one of you.

Don’t forget to tune into the podcasts. You’ll be surprised how much you can learn from someone else’s story. I am shocked at the knowledge I’m gaining from interviewing everyone on The Shiv Show. It’s knowledge that I want to share with you all via the podcast.

Never forget that you are your own best friend. Treat yourself with respect and honor, and others will treat you with the same. Have confidence in who you are, and always be yourself. Don’t be a work person and a home person…have one identity and OWN IT.

Never be afraid to try something new.
