MY STORY

Over the years, my story has significantly changed. I went from being a young kid who thought he knew everything, to being thrown into the deep end in every aspect of life – and I can confidently tell you that it was the best thing to ever happen to me.

Every struggle, every setback, every “I wanna quit” moment fueled a fire within me. It whispered that giving up wasn’t an option, that there was something bigger, something brighter waiting beyond the fear. Now, my mission is to ignite that same fire in others. To help them see that challenges are stepping stones, and that growth happens in the messy in-between.

I’ve been called an “all around fun guy.” Up for anything, whenever, wherever, however, and that’s something that I hope will never change. With a passport full of stamps and a heart full of wanderlust, I’m always up for the next adventure. But no matter where I roam, my roots from Trinidad & Tobago keep me grounded. The vibrant culture, beaches, and the delicious Carib (a local beer) always draw me back. In this picture, I’m soaking up the “Trini” life. Where’s your next adventure taking you?

In 2014, my family and I experienced the profound loss of my father. It was undoubtedly one of the most challenging periods of my life, but it also served as a catalyst for significant personal growth. If you’d like to hear more about this experience, I discuss this in detail in several podcasts episodes, as well as my book, The Regular Effect.

Sometimes, even the most difficult experiences can become unexpected turning points in your life. In my case, my dad’s passing jolted me into learning, growing and striving to live a life that would honour his memory. I hope this resonates with anyone who has faced a similar loss – it’s important to remember that you’re not alone.

If you’ve encountered a similar experience, please feel free to reach out and share your story with me. Openly discussing and connecting with others can be incredibly empowering and healing during challenging times. See below for a picture of me and my hero, my Dad.

My academic journey began at Sheridan College and Ryerson University, both in Toronto, Canada. These two institutions played a pivotal role in shaping my path. Their influence led me to a flourishing career in tech sales, fuelled by my genuine passion for helping people as well as my love for everything tech. Yes, I’m a geek and I’m proud to be one! Working across various tech companies, including my current role at a tech company, has immersed me in this dynamic world, keeping me constantly learning, developing and evolving.

But – my story doesn’t just unfold there. In 2016, I embarked on an adventure that forever changed me: I moved to Sydney, Australia. Packing my two suitcases and a backpack, I ventured across the globe to my new home. It pushed me out of my comfort zone daily, opened my eyes to diverse perspectives, challenged me in ways I never imagined and ultimately, helped me build connections with people around the world. If you ever get the chance to move to another country, I urge you to do so. The personal growth, the connections, and the memories you gain are truly priceless.

From 298lbs (135kg) to 155lbs (70kg) in 11 months: my journey to a fitter, better life!

It wasn’t magic, it was transformative. Shedding 140lbs in 11 months was not a walk in the park, but it was proof of what hard work, dedication and consistent effort can achieve. What worked for me was healthy eating, smarter training and staying consistent and committed – even when things got rough. It’s not just about the numbers – this transformative journey wasn’t just about the scale. It was about feeling stronger, healthier and more confident in my own mind.

If you’re looking to make a change, just know that you’ve got this! I’m not here to preach or shame, but to offer support and encouragement. Take it from a guy who transformed not just his body, but his mind – you have the power to reach your goals, and I’m here for you every step of the way.

Everyone has a story…what’s yours?

This is the question that made me start The Shiv Show. Have a listen to the podcasts to get a better idea of our amazing guests and their stories.

My hope is for listeners (and myself) to learn from the experiences of the guests on the show. Our topics range from successes, ups and downs, family, stress, fears, fitness, cooking, relationships and so much more. We always manage to throw a few laughs in there, too! Make sure to visit my PODCAST page.

Writing “The Regular Effect” was a thrilling leap of faith for me. I was not a writer, and I didn’t know where to begin. Who’s going to read it? Where would the book take me? But – I felt that my experiences were important to jot down because it could help others, so I grabbed a pen and started pouring my story onto paper.

And that’s how “The Regular Effect” was born – a testament to the transformative power of simply starting.

Now, whether you’re craving an audiobook experience, the feel of the paper between your fingers or the convenience of an ebook, you can dive right into The Regular effect and embark on this journey with me. You can find your copy HERE.

Remember, the most important relationship you’ll ever have is with yourself. Nurture it, treat yourself with kindness, and respect yourself. When you value your own worth, it shines through, attracting others. That’s the whole point of everything that I’m about. I used to be in a very dark spot and never took care of myself – all that changed when I started to respect myself – and that’s a feeling that I want for everyone!

Never forget that you are your own best friend – so treat yourself with respect. When you can confidently walk around, and be truly and unapologetically yourself, others will treat you with the respect that you deserve. Be your true self and OWN IT!

To conclude, I leave you with this…

Never be afraid to try something new.
