‘To empower people to communicate confidently – anytime, anywhere.’ I’ve thought long and hard about simplifying the mission, and with the help of some friends at The Stitch Agency, we finally got there. SpeakerStreet’s mission is to help everyone in our path communicate to their best ability and continue to learn the art of communication – because that’s exactly what it is – an art that needs to be practised every single day.
Do you remember how you felt when you were presenting and you felt like you didn’t deliver? Do you remember the feeling of those clammy hands, racing heart rate and the mumbling of words? I definitely have. In fact, for most of my life, communicating was something I couldn’t get a grasp of – it was my weakness. But through dedicating time and effort to the art, something changed.
Years of failed attempts knocked me on my rear, but I was determined to learn how to communicate properly. My poor communication skills stopped me from so many opportunities in life – jobs, dates and everyday life opportunities. This quest led me down a path of exploration, discovery, and ultimately, the creation of SpeakerStreet.
A few days ago, I was asked how long it took me to build SpeakerStreet. The answer I gave – 34 years. This wasn’t something that was built overnight – SpeakerStreet is something that has been in fruition since I was born. Like all things in life, it’s a work in progress to perfect the art and something I plan on working on for the rest of my life.
SpeakerStreet wasn’t just born out of my own struggles; it was born out of a passion to help others achieve their communication goals. Quite frankly, I was tired of seeing my friends and close colleagues lose out on opportunities because they were too scared to speak up or communicate their thoughts. I’ve been there, and it’s not fun. I truly believe that everyone, regardless of background or experience, deserves the ability to express themselves clearly, confidently – and of course, with impact.
So, what are my driving forces behind SpeakerStreet? Here they are:
o Empower: I want to equip you with the tools and techniques necessary to overcome your communication fears so you can become a confident speaker in whatever room you’re in. Whether you’re giving a presentation at work, delivering a speech at a wedding, or having a deep and meaningful conversation with a loved one, having the ability to communicate clearly is essential in all areas in life.
o Hammer: Get out that hammer, because we are going to break down those barriers. My mission is and has always been to help you overcome your fears – and usually, the first fear given from anyone I ask is the fear of public speaking. SpeakerStreet is designed to be relevant to everyone, regardless of their current skill level. This course is packed with practical, actionable strategies and challenges you can implement immediately to help you in every situation.
o Community: Join the FightClub. I call it the FightClub because every single one of us is fighting to be better today than we were yesterday. We’re fighting to break down those barriers. What I envision is a world where individuals celebrate each other’s communication journey. SpeakerStreet aims to foster a supportive and encouraging community where members can learn from each other, share experiences and best practises, and celebrate their successes.
Our ‘Communicate with Confidence’ course is designed to challenge you – and ultimately, give you the realisation that can possess the same skills as your favourite speakers you admire. A common misconception is that you have to be on a big stage to possess great public speaking skills, but that is far from the truth. That’s why SpeakerStreet is more than just a company that provides courses and coaching; SpeakerStreet is a movement. It’s about empowering you to find your voice, share your stories and connect deeply to your audience regardless of the situation you’re in.

And I’ll leave you with this – as I had mentioned before, this course has taken years and years to come to fruition, and I’ve had a lot of fun building SpeakerStreet because my passion is seeing that confident transition in people – so I hope you enjoy taking this course just as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it!
